Sumant Pathak

Sumant Pathak is a Registered Patent Attorney who has been an Associate at RKL since 2014.  In his years of practice, he has helped a variety of clients; ranging from individuals, corporations, and educational institutions, to secure and protect their intellectual property rights.  Sumant’s practice includes prosecuting both patent and trademark matters before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, providing counsel on matters relating to licensing intellectual property, and representing clients in litigation matters.  Sumant has provided counsel to clients in a wide range of technologies including the mechanical arts, the electrical systems and computer systems arts, and also the chemical arts.  Sumant received a Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, from Thomas Jefferson School of Law, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from University of California, Santa Cruz.  During Sumant’s pursuit of his engineering degree, he was a researcher at The Li Lab,where his research focused on building nanowires that can be used in circuit devices.While at law school, he was a practitioner at his law school’s United States Patent and Trademark Office Law School Clinic and also a Patent Law Clerk at San Diego IP Law Group.  Sumant is also a co-author of the Law Review Article; Randy Berholtz et al., WHERE TO FILE: A Framework for Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Companies to Develop an International Patent Filing Strategy, 37 T.
